Do You Involve Your Child To Provide Feedback When It Comes To Their Care?

Posted by Ask Emily on April 15, 2018 at 10:05 PM
We know that this topic comes with a ton of variables. There can be a lot of friction and stressors when it comes to raising a child with a diagnosis, especially when they get to the age that they want to provide feedback on their care and help pick out doctors and specialists and things and sometimes the parents might question how much to allow their child to help decide what is in their best interest. How do you as a parent determine how much to let go and when in letting your child make their own life decisions. What about subjects like employment, living on their own, education, etc. We hope this will open a dialogue for families who are going through this and maybe even start a group conversation about how families make these decisions and include the individual with the diagnosis etc. What resources if any would you like to have available to you to help you to make these decisions?
